Welcome to the first website for the East West Bulldogs, AKA East-West Club Inc. Established in 1983. The original South / Eastern Suburbs Supporter Group. This group was created over 30 years ago for the die hard supporters of the Footscray Bulldogs who grew up in the west and moved to the eastern suburbs later in life. They may have changed their postcodes, but they never changed their love for the Doggies of the West. Back in the 80’s it was a big trip out to Western Oval and besides game day, the opportunities to see the team and fellow supporters in large number out this way were few and far between. That’s why a small committee started this group to bring all the Eastern fans together for some local catch ups, friendship and footy talk, and at least once a year the full Footscray team would come out during pre season to train and spend the day on an oval like Waverley Park, Scoresby Oval and most commonly these days Glen Waverley. The event was named and stills remains ‘East Meets West Family Day’. We’ve had as many as 1500 paid up Members at one stage. These days the distance isn’t so far with the new tunnels and highways, paid up members and members of the Committee have come and gone but the tradition and legacy lives on. We are called East-West but you’re welcome from anywhere in this great city or state of ours. As long as you love the Doggies you’re welcome to join and attend our functions. As we relaunch our group with our updated name and logo, we want to grow the supporter group far beyond the 1500 members in the peak and continue the traditions for our children. Now’s your time to #bemorebulldog and do more for your AFL & VFL Premiership winning team. And now we have the Womans League. We’ve got 3 teams, 1 club. This year thanks to the support of our members for our Tipping Competition, East meets West Family Day and Kids’ Clinic at Wesley College, Legends & Young Guns Annual Dinner at Mulgrave Country Club and Christmas Raffle, we were able to donate $10,000 to the Western Bulldogs. Part of that sum has been used to erect one of three flag poles to be positioned adjacent to Ted’s statue, outside Victoria University Whitten Oval.
Our group was also pleased to donate a sum of $200 each to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The LT (Les Twentyman) Foundation, Neil Sachse Spinal Cord Research and the Western Bulldogs Foundation.
The East-West Bulldogs were the proud sponsors of Naomi Ferres, a member of our premiership winning 2018 AFLW team. Naomi later went on to win our VFLW Best & Fairest award.
